About Us
ResQ (“res-que”) Bakery was established in October 2022 by Minh Thu ‘Minh’ Nguyen, who wanted to combine two of her passions in life– cooking and baking, and her life-long love for dogs (and animals). In 2017, Minh adopted her first dog, Storm, from Wolf Trap Animal Rescue in Virginia, and has never looked back. She and her partner adopted a second dog in 2020 named Ace, who was severely neglected and abandoned for much of his early years. Today, both Storm and Ace are their most prized and beloved life companions. Minh believes deeply in rescuing and adopting, and is a strong advocate for finding your fur-ever companion through a local shelter. With ResQ Bakery, her mission is to help the most needed dogs find their forever home and live out the rest of their lives spoiled with love, attention, and care.
Beyond advocating for animal rescue, ResQ Bakery aims to provide the most delicious, high-quality, and unique baked goods and desserts for you and your pup. Minh has always enjoyed baking all kinds of desserts for family and friends (including the furry ones!), experimenting with different fun yet sophisticated flavor combinations that she enjoys eating herself. In 2021, she started making brioche donuts after having a special craving for it. After trying her hand at perfecting the recipe and exploring different flavor combinations, she had people asking if they could purchase her donuts. In finding joy making these donuts, she also helped a group of local youth scouts make donuts and other baked goods as a fundraiser to support their Scouting programs. From there, Minh wanted to continue expanding on her recipes and share with the community her baked goods and desserts, while providing value and impact back to the local community through promoting rescue of precious dogs, cats, and other animals that are deserving of a home and a loving family.
With ResQ Bakery, the purpose is to work with local animal shelters to highlight dogs, cats, and other animals there that have been neglected and bypassed, but have so much love to give, and simply looking for the same love in return. Through the sale of the baked goods and desserts, 5% of all profits from ResQ Bakery will be used to support the animal shelters we work with on an ongoing basis. For Minh, the most critical–and only–success criteria for ResQ Bakery is when more shelter animals are rescued and find a good home to go to. If Minh can do that all the while sharing her treats with the community and bringing some happiness into your home, then that makes all the difference in the world for her.
